The Multimedia & Web Design Specialist serves as an integral member of ODL’s communications team to support the development and delivery of marketing and communication materials related to in-house client support, university relations, and promotion of FSU online programs. The Multimedia & Web Design Specialist creates original layouts and designs for a variety of print and digital media, develops interface designs for ODL’s webpages and web applications, updates web content, and tracks and uses web analytics to improve ODL’s web presence and reach.
Designs and prepares high-quality original layouts and designs for a variety of media platforms including websites, mass emails, social media, ads, posters, brochures, postcards, e-cards, and university publications. Works to incorporate ODL’s and FSU’s visual identity and branding images to maintain a unified and consistent look across publications and other media outputs. Interacts with ODL staff and clients to determine project requirements and priorities to ensure timely production of high-quality marketing and communication materials. Contributes to a friendly, service-oriented work culture.
Coordinates with ODL administration and procurement resources to prepare digital files and invoices appropriately for vendors to meet production deadlines within project budget.
Designs and develops ODL websites that advance ODL initiatives. Updates and maintains web content using the university’s content management system (CMS), templates, and style guide. Works with IT Services to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to websites. Compiles and reports website analytics and proposes modifications to existing websites to improve web presence and reach.
Participates in identifying new and innovative ways of incorporating social media into new and preexisting websites and researches new trends and issues related to social media.
Performs administrative functions to support multimedia design work. Maintains project files and project tracking in an efficient and timely manner. Ensures that design and technical skills are kept current through on-the-job training, review of professional publications and training.
